OUR HERITAGE

The story behind MBER, began in Gloucester in 1964, when Jim Mercer and Fred Browning established the Merbro business.

Combining their surnames, Mercer and Browning created the Merbro name, a name that would become part of Gloucestershire's steel fabrication, engineering and manufacturing heritage.

Today MBER carries that story forward as a modern steel fabrication company, built on the experience, values and workmanship developed over more than sixty years.

"MBER wasn't created to replace the past, it was created to build on it.

The values, craftsmanship and relationships developed over generations remain at the heart of what we do today"

The orgins of Merbro

Originally based at Gloucester Docks, the business grew alongside the city's proud industrial heritage, serving local industry, construction and engineering customers for decades.

As the business evolved, the values established by its founders remained unchanged: hard work, craftsmanship, reliability and a commitment to doing the job properly.

Those values were passed from one generation to the next, helping shape the reputation that Merbro became known for and providing the foundations upon which MBER is built today.

A Family Tradition &
The Next Chapter

As Merbro grew, the business became more than a company, it became part of our family story.

My father later continued the business through Merbro Ltd, carrying forward the values established by its founders while adapting to the changing needs of customers and industry.

Growing up around the business gave me a first hand appreciation of the craftsmanship, dedication and customer focus that had helped build its reputation over many decades.

Having spent my own career within the fabrication industry, I understood the importance of preserving those values while embracing the opportunities of a changing market.

That vision led to the creation of MBER.

Built on generations of experience, MBER combines traditional workmanship with modern fabrication methods, industry leading compliance standards and a forward-thinking approach to steel fabrication and project delivery.

While the business has evolved over the years, the principles that helped build its reputation remain unchanged: quality workmanship, honest service, strong customer relationships and pride in every project.
